What exactly is Alox? I know about 50/50 beeswax/alox, Lee Liquid Alox, but I've done internet searches on the stuff and still haven't found an answer. :-|

Alox 2138 <-- if I have the number right. was originally intended as an automotive undercoating, the Alox co. made all kinds of preservative oils and greases, at one job I had we used what we called "overseas oil" on dividing heads and milling machine vises, it could be thinned with mineral spirits and it had that good old 50/50 alox/beeswax smell.

Another co. bought out the Alox corp but I have heard an extremely similar compound is still avail, but only comes in 5 gallon buckets.

Alox 2138 is a manufacturer's spec. I beleive we're using 2138F in our cast bullet lubes.

One of the versions is used as an undercoating but I'm not sure which one. May very well be the 2138F.

I had a tub of it recently that came from GAR. Looks just like chocolate pudding in the pure( more or less) state.

It's now in some 50/50 lube./beagle
