3 different types for the black powder firearms, 12 for the smokeless stuff.

Amazingly I have been able to keep up with supply/demand for the past 26 years with the exception of a 9 month period loss of BLC2 and stay within the 20lb storage requirement.

Red Dot and a lonely can of Titewad for pistols. IMR 4350, 3031, and 4895 for rifles. And a couple of pounds of IMR 4227 that blurs the lines between rifle and pistol a bit.

Since I got it I have been reloading everything I can with Red Dot.

Doing a quick look in the reload room, more than 25 (BP, pistol and rifle). I am in the process of straightening/cleaning/organizing this room so there may be more. I am unaware of a weight limit for powders/primers at a private residence in my county.

2 for pistol, 3 for rifle. So five total.

What can I say, I'm just getting started.

ETA: 2 kinds of BP ( but three different grades, if that counts)

I had it down to 3 for rifle and 3 for pistol. [and a couple of specialty powders]
but then I couldn't get those 3.
so now I'm back up to a bunch of this and a bunch of that that is close to them but not the same.

Only 4 in any quantity(more than 2 pounds)+ 7 partials for handgun/shotgun and 2 for rifle.
The partials are experiments and testing that may or may not work out.
The 2 rifle powders are for my 30-06. One for cast and one for jacketed.

Just 3. I'm a newb, just a few years into reloading now, and only load for 9mm and 40S&W. The vast, vast majority of my reloaded rounds are with a single powder (AA#5), but it's been over a year since I've seen any of that powder so I've decided to branch out lately. It's kind of fun to experiment, anyway, right?

It doesnt matter how many i have. Once a person has developed good loads with each firearm they reload for, they shouldnt need more than the powder that is used in that load. If you have a few good loads with different boolits/bullets, then maybe 2 per firearm. In many instances the same powder will work great for many firearms and even calibers, reducing the number needed.

That's dreaming though at this point. Find a good load, and rest assured that powder will dry up (be hoarded i mean) right quick, and you will be back to square one with a new powder that you never planned or intended to buy but had to in order to keep shooting

Some powders are available at brick-and-morters and gun shows. Imr 700x, 800x, power pistol, titewad, and titegroup may be found here in Montgomery. Bullseye is non-existant. I think it has to do with how well known a powder is and the production cycle for that powder

Really doesn't matter what your county govt. says; ask your insurance agent. Your coverage is probably based on national fire codes.

Jerry

No such thing as national fire code. It's set by your state and or municipality. NFPA is only guidelines. The reason I mention state is because NFPA guidelines are tied to building code in most cases. You really need to know what your local fire code is.

Just as a point if your state/municipality adopted international building code then they adopted NFPA guidelines unless they specifically exempted them. IBC refers to NFPA in regards to fire code. So this means 20#s of powder in original containers and 20-50#s in a 1" thick wooden box. No more than 50#s per dwelling. You are limited to 10k primers total. That's not 10k of each type.

If you think those limits are bad be glad you don't live in Maryland. They can't have more than five pounds of powder in a dwelling.

I'm always amazed w/ the amount of information that people freely post. No need for big brother when people willingly give it up.

Just starting out. First was only loading 45 and 9. Only had 3 powders, which were what I could find. Then I decide to go all in and reload for a half dozen more calibers. Now I have about 10 different types but only 1-2# of each.

okay once again I am seeing weird things about how the powder is distributed across the country.
there is about 8-10 pounds of 20/28 sitting on the local G/S shelf.

there is some one pounders of 4895 too, and rl-7,12,15,17,22, and usually some 25
but no rl-19, they are in one and five pound jugs, there is also 3031,and 4064 in multiple 8lb jugs.
I see unique and bulls-eye once a month or so.
and on and on.

I can't find my normal powders - so I'm now buying whatever is available for reasonable pricing - which isn't much - latest is pistol powder ETR7 which seems to be doing OK.
