Yeah big deal. I fired up a new 20# pot warmed up a couple of moulds and off I went ..... mostly . I had run the 4-20 once before with an new mould I was trying to get figured out so the the pot fidgeting was low priority.
I struggled with that a little this this time around But I have it sorted out now as well as finding the right dip and pour method for the pot ,turns out I need to be an inch or so taller for this pot which works out as I recently got some new work mats to save my heel spures.
So I cast some WDWW 225-55 NOE /RCBS 5C,a 454424 single , and a 6C 452-255 RNFP . My consistency is good, pour timing is good over all. I need a bigger ladle for that 1500 gr 6C but it sure is nice to pour 100 perfect (enough for me) boolits in every 20 pours . I say this because that new to me single poured about 70 to get 60 keepers.
The 225-55 was more finiky . I made about 30 pours and had trouble keeping it hot so I had a very high reject rate but then this mould is new also and I'm still looking for that 1/8 turn perfect tension and the right pace ,aside from hot and fast.

While the above it just the daily humdrum of new tools the end results were more mechanically interesting . The 454242 dropped in at a rather boring 255.7 to 256.3 that seems reasonable to me for 1 cavity and all of my fussing around with the pot and the new mould factors. The 6C 452-255 was the last mould cast and it turns out 2 boolits at 263 and 265 +- about .7 again plenty close enough for me ,Lee mould ,preowned, for a 45 Colts. .....
The little 225-55 fp from NOE was the middle mould and I just can't get 5 good 1s every time,it's not just this 1 either so it is an operator issue and I will get it right eventually . Yes I pour 2 then 3 and so on with a hot plated mould . That's not the interesting part of this . The keepers are what is of interest . They scaled at 61.9 to 62.2 on my Ohause M5 balance scale. This is only interesting because the other NOE moulds are within .5 of projected weight and these are 13% heavy . I don't know but even a straight lino intended mould this small should gain that much even if I were pouring pure ,I'm pouring ww.
I hope it will shoot in the old 340 Sav 222 if it is a miss marked 62 gr . It shoots 50 and 55 gr SP like a champ so hopefully it will .

By request. ...
The side by is the 452-255,454423 (gifted to me by Love Life),454424 and the modified 429424 . The NOE 225-55 that scales at 62gr. Every time I look at those little things I see more that should be tossed but will be fine for "squirrel"loads. The last are the 454424 loaded in the Colts and ACP.

I think I have the 45s fixed up and worked out. The ACP hits 800 fps and is completely capable of matching my shooting, 25 yd hits on a dumped 8x8x8 block in the desert . The Colts carbine at last grouping 2" @ 50 yd in kneeling field positions and clocking just a little over 1300. The RBH has 40 left of the original Hog Loads with the 452 252 SWC at 950 fps . Humm ..... off subject again....
