Hello all, I have a Ruger American in 300 black out and want to shoot my lyman 311041 out of it. I have done it and it shoots very well. The gas check in below the neck , and so are some lube grooves, is the gas check coming off something to worry about,Now I shoot them as fast as I make them, over time will the lube mess with the powder. I could run them without GCs, but not with out lube. I cant seat them out further as the wont chamber. I am not set up to powder coat.

I wouldn't shoot any lead bullet with the base below the case neck. Not only is it possible to strip the gas check off, the base of the bullet could rivet as well. Either scenario could cause you grief under certain circumstances.

as long as I can't pull the gas checks off with my pocket knife
I seat them below case neck in my 375 H&H and 300 blackout without worry

Multiple options- Find 041 with smaller nose, open throat, find new boolit, or keep on going as is. I myself IMHO would not continue with check AND lube grooves below neck, that's just me.

I am shooting the 300 black with cast ( rcbs Sil mould and a copy of the lee 155g
Do some reading on here and there are lots of people shooting cast with and with out GC

Do pick a mould from 155g in weight up to the 247g NOE mold. Depending if you want to shoot supper or sub velocity.
GC or no GC

you do not want too big of a nose or lots of lube grooves.

the hard part might be finding some powder that will work

W296 works better with lighter bullets
Lil-gun, and 1680 are more of a all round powder
and a few more powders as well
