Somehow the thought entered my head that I need a 92 Rossi in 357. I couldn't quite afford one back when they were Puma's, but now I can. The problem is, with two safes full of guns I don't REALLY need another gun but those Rossi's sure look nice.

What has need got to do with it? Gheeze thinking like that will make you start thinning the two safes and looking at interior decorating magazines. Man up and go buy it already since you want it. :kidding:

The fact that you are on this site tells me you like to load/unload brass so why would you not want another unloader>

I had a EMF/Rossi .357 short rifle that I bought used. It must have been worked over by some one before me to smooth it up. I gave it to My Daughter and Son in Law. it is the slickest, smoothest most accurate rifle You could ask for. it is a Joy to just look at and shoot. just My .02.

Get a pack of those gun rods with the velcro to make more room in the safe! That is what I did and as soon as it gets warmer I will install them problem with no room in the safe solved.

This ones easy. It's a Rossi so don't buy it. If we were talking a Marlin or even Winchester then I would talk you into buying it.

I'm in the same boat. I think I own about a dozen lever actions in about 10 different calipers. I definitely don't need another, but I'm wanting a 92 in 357. I've decided that if you can afford it and you want it, you should get it! We only go round once.

I've been accused of being an enabler so take my opinion under serious scrutiny. ;-) That Rossi would cause me to break my New Year's resolution in a heartbeat. I've fondled some very nice rifles since making that resolution, including a new Marlin in 43 Mag just this past Sunday. The only mistake is not buying a big enough safe. Have you seen those construction site job boxes? I have a 60' Knaack and I have no idea how many leverguns it will hold, doubt I'll ever find out.

Just do it (as long as you can afford it, of course). You know you'll enjoy owning (and using) it.:guntootsmiley:

I probably shoot and carry around my Rossi 357 more than all my other guns including 22's. Its a great little tractor/4 wheeler rifle and very handy as an all around type rifle for anything from ground squirrels to coyotes. Will work well for deer I suppose but deer rifles are what I have too many of as I am only allowed one deer per year. The other rifle I shoot a lot is my Marlin 94 32-20 just to give you something else to want.

I recently bought a Rossi .357 20" in blue. Very pleasantly surprised by it. Nice action, wood, and metal finish.

They've definitely cleaned up their act.

Sure you need a .357 lever. They are lots of fun. Light load 38s kick like a .22. If you cast, they are cheaper, too. Max load 357 mags do well on deer at reasonable ranges. Or, you can do anything in between.

My excuse for getting my Rossi 357 was to get my son shooting a large enough rifle to be able to hunt deer with me. We started with light 38s and worked his way up to 357mags. He got his first deer the season before last with it at age 13. My 12 yr old daughter likes shooting it with 38s, too.

Mine was fairly good out of the box, but I ordered the Stevesgunz DVD and extractor spring. After the tune-up, it is sweet. I added a 44 later and did the same tune-up. Both are really smooth and will cycle easily with one finger. I didn't touch the trigger or hammer spring on either rifle, they were just like I wanted out of the box. My eyes don't do well with iron sights any more, so I put Steve's bolt mounted peep on both.

If I cast? If I didn't cast I wouldn't be on this forum.
I would like to thank everyone for your responses. You're doing a very good job talking me into it. Now I just have to fondle one at the NRA meetings, and nothing will hold me back.

Here's a solution. When you tire of buying things for others. Opportunity knocks. You just have to be wise enough to respond.

Buy it yet, OP? If not someone else was probably a little more decisive and now it's his pride & joy....and you're waiting for another one to come along. Don't kick yourself too hard, it's all part of the game.

Just missed one this morning, but I'm ready and willing, and when the one I want comes along I'll own it.

I have an Interarms Rossi made somewhere around 1980 or so. I shoot 38's all day with it and light 357's. I cast with a 4 cavity Hensley & Gibbs #51 and it shoots wonderfully.
Casting and loading light loads lets you shoot all day. I can actually shoot this cheaper than a 22! I use 4.0 gr 231 for the 38's and 5gr 231 for the 357's over the #51.
I am beginning to experiment with a 200gr SWC H&G in 357 and ww296. let's see how that works out.
Buy it and don't look back. It will quickly become your favorite.

I just bought one a few weeks ago. I just wanted it and finally figured out how to afford it. Mine is the 16 inch model. I really!!!! like it. I just wish I had more energy to go shoot it. I think a couple of 44 oz Pepsi's will help get me going though.
