I just got done casting some Lee C430-310-RF and C452-300-RF
I could not beleive how fast the 20 lb pot drained .
Then I started thinking
300 gr x 6 =1800 in bullets and the lead puddel on the sprue plate
After 60 to 65 times , 360 or so bullets .
I had to stop and refill the pot and wait till it was back up to temp .

Guess I will have to get a hot plate to melt a supply to add to the 20 lb bottom pour pot so I can keep casting .

But I now have a 1000 or so of each to size

This should keep me shooting for a few days

Trying to cast the C358-180RF out of a Lee 10 pound pot was an exercise in frustration. I went back to dipper pouring over a 2.5 quart pot on the Coleman. Cutting the sprues right back into the pot, I managed to cast a lot of bullets before I had to refill.

I sell LEE Precision six cavity molds from invintory. They are all of the "Big Lube(tm)" design. The one that drains the pot quickest is the big DD/PRS-45-385 RNFP for 45-70 lever guns.

I keep the pot runnin' at full speed by premelting with a plumbers furnace under a cast iron kettle I found at an estate sale ($0.25) It keeps 50 pounds easily at 750 degrees with the throttle on idle.

I've also heard of pards using Coleman camp stoves, the kind that burn liquid fuel) for pre-melting metal for their casting pot. One big advantage of using an external pot is that smelting WW metal to make ingots keeps all the crud away from your casting pot. The fastest/easiest way I've found yet for getting all the rim clips out of melted wheel weights when smelting to make ingots is to pull them out with one of 'em magnets on a stick that they make for picking up metal in the workshop. They're cheep and fish out the steel rite quick.

Lining up ingots on top of your pot heats them up as you go. Put in two, move two more up to the front of the line. Works for me to keep the pot full.

I just use 2 20 lb LEE's and ladle from the second to keep the first one full.

Hey Dick Dastardly,
thanks for the tip about the fishing magnet--got a couple laying around the house and never thought about using them in such a productive way--next time I make ingots I will thieve your idea!!! Thanks a lot!
