So a guy locally has a colt 1860, it has all the right markings,
The serial number 202953 puts it toward the end of the gen 2 guns.
The cylinder is ringed from cocking and people handling it, but appears to be unfired.

It was carried by a artillery reenactor, and shows some holster wear.
He passed away, and his son is selling it, and the flap holster.135503135504135505

Because of the cylinder marks, and holster wear, I guess it will be my shooter..

What's an approximate value of one of these in good used shape?

Any input would be helpful.

45 Bravo, a quick search of the internet is showing me a range of $550 to $900. The higher ender are unturned with box and paperwork. Depending on the quality of the flap holster, I'd say about $600 would be a good starting point....

If I remember correctly, 2nd Generation Colts are licensed copies made by Uberti without the normal Uberti barrel markings. So technically, it is a Colt in the same way that a new production Winchester is a Winchester... even though the barrel doesn't read "Made in New Haven, CT."

There are several Colt's models of that run at the Cabela's in Dundee, MI in the Gun Library with boxes and papers going for $700 to $900.

Thanks guys, That's about the same info I had dug up, I was hoping to find some one that might have sold or bought one.

Back when I was really into the bp revolvers heavy, I had called colt and talked to one of their gunsmiths about the gen2 guns, the parts were made in Italy, and shipped to colt in the white, the bluing, final assembly, and fitting and QC checks were done in house.

But the guns were always out of my price range.

This is one is decidely in my price range..

i do know, the value of a colt rarely goes down.

but for the price I am paying, it's less than what a Pietta is selling for now.

I have been out of the cap& ball hobby for a while, but at this price, I can't pass it up..

I bought a Colt 2nd Gen 1860 Army from a fellow club member a few years ago. It was used but not abused,
Came with a Correct Flap holster. He sold it to me for $350 but he said if he sold it to a non-member it would have been $100 more. If you can pick one up for the price of a Pietta, you're doin' good!!!

I got it, there's w scratch on the cylinder from the cylinder stop coming up too quick, the trigger/stop spring was too tight, when I assembled it after cleaning it, I tightened it correctly, and now it functions flawlessly in timing.

On close inspection, I don't think Its been fired, just cocked and carried..
no residue inside, no discoloration from fouling on the brass inside the trigger guard, and the caps look perfect.

It locks up tight,

And it came with the correct holster and belt.

$250

Yeah, a solid drag line like that indicates faulty lockwork. That should never happen. If you have to back out the bolt spring screw to prevent early bolt drop, something's wrong with the bolt, the hammer cam, or both. 250's a good price though, so you done well, if it is what you say it is.

Pictures also show the cutouts on the frame for the detachable shoulder stock.

from what I can see, the holster looks as if it is one of the the better ones on the market, so I would think it to be worth over $65, and you really did good on the pistol, so enjoy. great deal.
