I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the top 'groove' in the Lyman 452400 mold is a crimp groove or a lube groove? I was thinking of trying this boolit in my .45 ACP...

Thanks!135352

It looks to be a generous crimping groove. That boolit would be excellent in 45 AR, but it's pretty heavy for an ACP. Perhaps it would work in the right gun...

What weight and diameter does that mould drop?

I have that RCBS rnfp mould ... it is for the .45 Colt. Weight averages a little over 250 grs. Contrary to conventional wisdom, it works quite well in the .45 ACP and would be devastating as a personal protection round, though it would definitely over-penetrate in the usual self-defense scenario. Works very well in two 1911s I have. Most usual contrary comments run like, "Why use 250 grains when I can shoot 200 grs.?" As it turns out, accuracy is unusually good in my 1911s. Big Boomer

They weigh 235gr and they measure .455" ans .447" (measurements taken at 90 degrees, largest diameter is where the two mold halves join). I need to get this sorted as I would like to use them in my 1911 .45 ACP.

Sorry I mis-identified that boolit and apparently I do not have the same mould ... mine is an RCBS 250 FN. Does your mould have a # on it and is it a RCBS? Your mould would throw a great .45 ACP boolit. In mine, I use an appropriate load of either Red Dot or 231. Do not know what the fps of my heavier boolit is but it is certainly accurate. Big Boomer
