View Full Version : Modifying a Lee GC mold to a plain base

I modified a Lee 8mm 175gr mold today from the gas check design to a plain base by way of a 21/64 jobber bit. I wasn't sure whether it was better to take out the entire shank area or just the part the GC would usually cover, so I did the latter. Do you guys think this is right? This will be used for low velocity loads in a couple of 88 Commission rifles with .324 bores.

Looks like you did a fine job.
Had done the same to one of my molds.

Did you use a drill press or milling machine or.....?

I used a drill press, but I mean one of those <$100 Harbor Freight specials.
