Hi guys

I just pick up this mold last week and tried it today, I'm having a hard time getting full definition on the entire bullet.

Any ideas?, the mold was preheated to 250 - 300 degrees.

Thanks
Scott

Dunking mold in the molten lead to bring it up to temp. I use a inexpensive hot plate to preheat my molds. (1)200-300* maybe not hot enough for good fill. (2) May need tin in you're alloy.
What gives with the mold (right hand mold face), looks like vent lines are filled with lead? At nose, 1st, 2nd and 3rd bands from nose If so it maybe trapping air, remove and clean mold. Last what alloy, what temp is you're melt?

Thanks for the advice....

I cleaned the molds and removed the traces of lead that were there.
The alloy is a mix of 40% rim fire, 30% handgun and 30% rifle.

I added some solder to bring the TIN content up, I preheated the molds to 350 degrees and then kept them warm using a hot plate.
The mix was at a temp of 700-715 degrees using a IR thermometer.

the result was a lot better today.

Nicely done Scott. I have the same mould and that's how mine look too (your revised effort).
