Hi y'all,

I recently picked up a CZ 550 in .375 and like shooting it, so I'm going to have to start casting for it (ammo cost is insane for these things now). Anybody have any experience casting/loading for this round? Mold/load recommendations? Your experience and advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Charles

378674. Lyman's 335gr RN. Drops at .377 for 315gr with WW. I've been shooting it in my Encore pistol. Good bullet.

I also have a Lyman 375449 264gr FNGC but that's still a virgin mold. Been busy with my other stuff.

I run IMR4198 with the 335gr RN. 36gr is listed max out of the Lyman #48, 3.57" OAL. Does about 1700fps from a 24" rifle. I'm going to push it harder and see what happens. The Holland case is a big case. I run 47gr with a 350gr jacketd in 45/70 with less case capacity. No reason the Holland combo can't be pushed past 40gr. The Lee manual states the Holland's usefull case capacity it 5.61cc and the 45/70's is only 4.06cc. Almost 30% more case capacity and the case can handle almost 60K psi.

Definately slug the bore. My groove runs tight at .375 and I size to .376 with zero leading. My handloads cost 10¢/rd!!

I use 377449, 375428 and Hornacy .375 RBs in my M70 .375 H&H.

The 377449 cast of WW + 2% tin and WQ'd over 36 gr 5744 runs 1850 fps and is very accurate and an excellent fun load. The same bullet over 49 gr 4895 with a 1 gr Dacron filler runs 2175 fps and is an excellent and accurate practice load. It also would be my choice for hunting deer/elk though I would probably not WQ the bullets.

375248 cast of range lead + 5% tin over 9.5 gr Bullseye (no filler or wad) runs 1075 fps and is an excellent plinking/small game load.

The Hornady 375 RB tumbled lightly in LLA and loaded over 4 gr of Bullseye (no wad or filler) runs 890 fps and shoots into 1 3/4" at 50 yards all day long. An excellent plinking round and just the ticket for rabbits, grouse or ptarmigan when big game hunting and wanting to add a little extra "camp meat" to the pot.

Thanks, guys! Now I need to look for a 378674 mold, and some round balls.

I've only recently started loading for my M70, using the L375499GC. I've burned 48.0 gr. Varget, and 41.5 IMR 3031 so far. The Varget load seems very promising at this point.
