I need shipping boxes for some rifles and I would appreciate hearing of appropriate sources.
If you could, please include an appreciation of the quality of those you have used.

Go to some of your local gun shops. If they order guns in any quantity they will have boxes. It saves them having to haul them to the dumpster. I get mine from other shops all the time...for free.

I don't know what value of rifles you are shipping, but a cardboard box and some bubblewrap really isn't enough protection for any guns I own...IMHO

goodsteel created a great thread about how to ship rifles.

I had to ship two to my son in Germany, and I used Plano boxes with the original cardboard box for the "shipping box and label". I put locks on the cases, and then sent him the keys, and kept a copy for myself just in case. They arrived perfectly.

(Took this clue from Goodsteel.)

Shipping rifle can be an issue finding containers for them. I do as Goodsteel and buy a inexpensive rifle case perfeerably with a cardboard wrapper around it. Open the card board wrap carfully, put the rifle in the foam padded case and secure as needed. close case and install card board wrapper. wrapp in shipping paper. Here the neet trick add a couple small locks and send keys ahead seperatly from case to destination. The foam padded case gives much better protection than a card board box alone.

never use wrapping paper to ship! USPS will not accept it even! I have used PVC tube with end caps to ship long antennas in. Much better than boxes, hard end caps etc.

buy more expensive rifles. then when they come in use those boxes to ship out. the up side is you upgrade your collection. the wife does not see an increase in the number of guns, and you get your boxes.
