Just had a .338-06 improved built. Anybody have any good loads for a cast bullet in the 225-250 range?

Don't do this ..... I thought I had my mind made up on 35 Whelen.

Must ... not ...check .... back

Great round. Shoots a 210gr Scirocco at 2800 fps sub .50 moa with 66.6 grains of H414 but need to do a load for a cast bullet.

One has to ask; why did you not figure this out BEFORE you had the rifle built? What are you going to do IF no one can help you?

A starting place is the Lee bullet (220?) and what ever powder/charge guys are using in .35 Whelen.

scottfire1957. A friend told me that this was a great site to get good info. The gun shoots great with the Scirocco bullet,so I should have said would like to work up a load for a cast bullet not NEED to. One has to ask; what good info were you able to share?

I wanted the best of both worlds for using in my 338/06. Cast boolets and "J" word type bullet velocity without the copper jacket. So I got into paper patching.Robert

Good reply gunboonie! Some peoples' kids....
Something about "if you don't have anything nice to say........

I have a ream of cast info but I am not near it, won't be for a week or so - I am on the road. The 338-06 was a lot of fun for me for a long time and I think if you are still wanting some data after the other posters post, I can pass along what I have in a PM when I get back. Just let me know.
