I am using new remington cases and meister 165 grain cast 309 diameter bullets to shoot in old lever action marlin model 1893. The bullets come lubed, blue lube in rings. When seating the bullets into the brass there is a lot of shavings that stick to the brass and have to be scraped off. Is this normal? will it be any different onece the brass has been fired expanding the case neck a little bit? Am I missing something, Captain Lewis

You need to flare the casemouth for those cast bullets. There are neck expanding dies available from reloading suppliers. You especially need that with plainbase bullets

Yep, or use a needle nose pliars: closed, stick them in just a little, and turn the case opening it up a tad, just enough to let the base of the boolit in. ... felix

Lee Universal Case expander die. Cheap, works for every caliber
(well maybe not a .577 Tyrannasaur, or .14 Smith) what else would
you need.

'course - needle nose pliers are probably already laying right there . . . . .

chamfering the inside of the case mouth a tad might help also...might not need to expand if they're chamfered a mite, but prolly will.
