I noticed NEI has a few pistol boolit designs that have no lube grooves and are intended to be tumbled in graphite or molybdenum disulfide for a lubricant coating. Has anyone had any experience with these or this idea? It seems like it ought to fly. My only experience in the past was some 240gr .430 SWCs that had some kind of black coating that looked like thin paint and would blacken one's fingers if they were handled enough. They were only good for anemic loads before they would lead. I wound up lubing them conventionally in a Lyman 450 and they were okay after that. This was in the late 70's before the resurgent popularity of moly-dysulfide. I thought this might be comparable to LLA without requiring the necessary surface texture or clean-up. Any experiences/success/horror stories?

I wonder if these moulds are the ones that the plated bullet companies use for their products?

I wondered that myself. Copper plate a .400 to .410 and call it good for .41 mag
