I'm very partial to the Lyman 457122 HP . I've used it with excellent results in my Marlin 1895CB .
It also does a pretty darn good job on Virginia whitetails .

You might also give some thought to the two Ranch Dog 45 caliber offerings . They are both of gas check design . One is 350 grains and the other is 425 grains .
If intrested they can be seen at ;

I have my 1895CB that is ballard rifled and an old Marlin 1895 of 1978 vintage that is micro grooved . And the Ranch Dog bullets shoot very well in both rifles :drinks:

I have both Marlin and Winchester rifles in 45 caliber. I use the same bullets in both. They are the Lyman 300 gr flat point, 405 gr flat point and an RCBS 325 gr flat point. They all shoot well in both rifles. The 330 gr gould bullet lyman sells is a very good one as well. A friend gave me a hundred of them and I was impressed with them. I have not gotten around to buying a mold for them yet.

RCBS 405 boolit, 57.0 W748, magnum primer. Low pressure, ~1750 fps
and one of the most accurate in my 1886 Extra Lite. Hunting load, not
a plinker, at least in my perception of recoil --- :-D

GB 460420 PB has been good over 23.0 SR4759 in my Marlin and Ped RB,
but haven't tried it in the 1886 XL yet.

Now my orig seems to have a twist of about 28. It throws the RCBS 405's into cloverlesfs all day, but I would venture a guess they've followed everyone else and went 18 twist. Should still be a good combo though. Their nice and long so you dont have to have em to fat. 458-459 is fine
