I'm looking at casting for my Sauer 200, and was looking to see if any list members have worked with this rifle in 30-06 and have favorite bullets, or loads.

I cast some NEI clones of the Lyman 311041 over the weekend, and after measuring them, I don't have much confidence in that bullet for this rifle - the nose is way too small in diameter.

I've not cast the chamber on this rifle; I suspect it is the typical German big throat, minimum bore configuration.

Can anyone suggest some proven performers in this rifle?

Thanks in advance-

Eck

I have two lyman molds for the 311291 and 31141 and both cast their noses at .299. Never shot worth a hill of beans in any of my 30-30's. I'd try lyman 314299 which is supposed to cast the nose at .303-.304 and the body at .314. I have twp of those molds with almost the same casting measurements. But I do advise slugging your barrel to see what you are dealing with as far as bore dimensions are concerned. Frank

I've got a Lyman 311291 that casts with too small a nose to fit my rifles. Know what? It still shoots very well in .30-30s, .308s and .30-06s. I never ran it hard but up to 1800 fps it has always been a good bullet for me.
