do they know something that we don't?

I also saw several blue birds today. Maybe spring is here.

I know they wiped out all the berries on my Holly tree a week or so ago. There must yave been at least two dozen robins in that tree. I have never seen anything like that before.

Same thing happened to mine about the same time. I didn't see it but one day the tree was full of berries, next day it was picked clean. Nothing left but a lot of bird droppings on the ground.

Likewise, approx 2 dozen Robins here in north central KY. I hope they are a harbinger of an early Spring.

The folks said Robins are moving through Florida in Droves. Or flocks might be more proper.
Bring it on I'm tired of this cold.

I know it is getting ready to snow here in N.Carolina when the robins show up. I hurts me to see this bird of spring searching through 1 inch of snow for food but it does give me hope that I will be able to break the camper out of hibernation soon!

Had a good number of flights of geese last Thursday and Friday but has been very quiet since. Big cold front coming back in by tomorrow evening-- back into the icebox for a while.
WX man saying we will break snow records by end of month. Sure am glad we are in global warming, would really be in trouble !!!!!

The snow makes robins and other songbirds very vulnerable to cats and other predators. Even my little beagles catches them in the snow. I make a point of putting the feeders in a wide open space far from any shrubs or structures that can be used as ambush sites.i

Had Robins here for about the last month. Blue Jays all winter along with doves. My wife has out 2 bird feeders. Between me and the neighbors we have 4 holly bushes. Still lots of berries.

Some robins never leave the area, I see flocks of them in the woods when I hunt grouse in January. They seem to hang around grape thickets and springs. Nearly every year in late January or early February flocks of robins move through the neighborhood finishing up any fruit left on trees. I'm guessing that by then they have eaten most of the grapes and have to forage out farther and farther. Depending on the temperature, some years the crab apples ferment and the birds get drunk. It was common to see a bird sitting on a branch and all of a sudden he would be hanging upside down, another drunken antic was to fly up to land on the telephone wires and miss the wire completely. My wife wondered if they got hangovers.

No robins around here now. But there were an awful lot of song birds active the last couple days singing up a storm. All that despite barely getting out of the 20's.

Our first robin showed up this morning. The hummingbirds can't be too far behind.

Haven't seen robins but we have had bluebirds here all winter, I don't think they migrate.

Yeah, yesterday morning when I let the dog out, there was a cardinal on the neighbors house singing his brains out, and the temp was -17.

If they know what is good for them, they will hold up there for a while. Still have snowbanks and sub zero temps overnight here in Western New York.

We have hummingbirds year round here in Lewis County. Keep a feeder up all year and full of the high octane stuff for them.

No song birds yet but I did see an eagle twice yesterday in the same spot. He was right next to the road eating a deer carcass. About 20 deer hanging in that area too on the way home at dusk.

Saw my first Robins of the year this afternoon. At 4:30 I took to dog for a ride to get some food and down the street there were 5 or 6 of the little guys poking at the brown grass in between the snow piles. Spring is close now.

No Robins here yet either, did see a Bald Eagle on the 18th. It was flying over Kernville, SWMBO & I did a 40+ mile ATV ride into Tyler & Dry Meadows later that afternoon. Then that weekend we got 18+" of snow, most melted by Thursday, then snowed about an inch again last night. About 2" more today and still snowing ..... [smilie=s:
