Had the Cub Scout pinewood derby today. I spent all morning helping kids get up to weight. Can you ID what I used?

This is maybe 20% of the cars...

Watch out for the "gun-grabbers".......they will make your cars "disqualified" due to dangerous ammunition involved!

They had a blast. My son took home the craftsmanship trophy. He got to use my lathe and router table for the first time, and we embedded a LED flashlight in the front for a little extra style.

Those are some pretty awesome designs. Glad the boys were allowed to use them, my council would have disqualified them for using parts outside of the kit. I remember a boy one year was forced to remove his lucky quarter from his car before he could race. Congrats on the award too.

Those cars belong to the boys from another pack that we host every year. We're very fortunate and have our own track, and they have a $150 budget for the year. We bring them in for our December meeting, when "Santa" delivers the pinewood derby kits. Good stuff.

I did derby's for all the years both my boys were cubs. They had lots-o-fun. Won 1st place many times. I shared ideas from my engineering background! They did all the design & work

those are good looking cars.

I remember building my first derby car.
I attempted to cut the block right near the middle with a saw.
( I don't know how many times I cut my thumb trying to hold the block steady)
But I remember I pried/pounded the two halves appart with it and a screw driver which I then used to push the wheel pins in semi straight.

It went in with some bloody finger prints and no paint as we didn't have any.
My mom still has it.

Wow they look great crawfobj. Great alternative use of boolits. Look like they belong there.
