After needing a third hand to work on a pistol (again) I got with the program and built this little stand. It beats using the vise because it can be moved around the bench to put the pistol at the best angle to work on it. It is short on the right end so a rag can be placed under the muzzle to catch any drips when cleaning. The lower wheel is used to position the moveable jaw and the upper wheel clamps down. A couple of pieces of leather protect the finish on the gun.

Yep, they feed better if I clean the chambers out at least every 60-90 rounds especially on the Model 52. The 1911s can usually go 200 rounds or so and the 22s can last through a 20 week league without cleaning.

I figure that if they are supposed to be run dirty, the vendors will be selling all kinds of high accuracy dirt. But they aren't. Instead they sell all kinds of cleaners and lubricants which people seem to like buying and, better yet, talking about on the various forums.
