:lovebooliI've just made a batch of Darr's lube. It's cooling as I write this. I cooled a little on a piece of paper to see how stiff it would get. It looks to be fine now, but I've started to wonder if it will be stiff enough for these central Texas summers. Do I need to add anything to it for hot weather? What do the folks here think about that lube recipe? Seems slicker than the RCBS rifle lube I've been using. I weighed each component, 1part vaseline, 1part paraffin, 2 tbs. STP.

The vasoline might be the stuff that will cause trouble in the heat. It softens fast.
I use soft Felix in any weather without a problem and don't like paraffin. It is too brittle. I like lanolin for sticky instead of STP.
I never tried that lube but maybe when all mixed it is all right.
You are the one that has to try it and post the results in the heat you have.

My last batch of FWFL I made with Dextron 3. I took a ball about the size of ... well 1/2 inch. I put it in a south facing window where it gets pretty hot. No melting or bleeding in 2 months! When I get to it I will do a melt test with thermometer.
