There's a listing by eviljohn showing a 7/8" x 14 threaded die body with punch similar to a Lee push-thru, but with a threaded top portion which I didn't recognize. He measured the I.D with calipers and came up with .306"; which made me wonder if it was a accurate measurement. Anybody recognize the maker and/or purpose of this die?

I'll take a SWAG and guess that it is a home or custom die for either an unusual bore/groove or for core sizing a swagged or paper patched bullet. It could even be an extrusion die for home lead wire.

Looks kind of like one of the conversions of an old die I have made. Maybe just homemade, but that might explain the extra parts that thread in the top. It looks like there is an insert inside the die body to do the sizing. I wonder if it can come out to interchange them with the plug on top holding it in? Buckshot and others have made some that use Redding(?) neck bushings to do the sizing.

Can't see the side. May be one of "the Perfessors" adapters that take a standard sizing die in a body and allow you to switch sizing dies for nose first dies in a standard press. The pusher looks right and the sleeve would hold the die in place and the nut would secure it.

They're handy. Me and Crazy Mark made some and scattered them about the country but ours didn't look exactly like that./beagle

Not one of mine. Looks nicely done, but no idea exactly what it is.

I believe you must be right; the end view of the die body looks like there are two types of steel ( color is different anyway).

I'll take a SWAG, it just might be a bump die for a boolit nose

If it's actually a .306 I.D, how 'bout a sizer for .30 cal. paper-patch?

.306 is the odd part. For pp it might be a core sizer for a 7.62 or 303 of 1 or another, 7.7 maybe . Maybe 7.65 Mauser (Is that right ?) 30 Luger or the like ,one of those 9mm necked to 30 cal shouldered pistols. As a core sizer it would be about right for a .312-314 groove.

Out of boredom I threw a bid down on it
If I win I will put up some more pictures
Looks like something I can use for a project I have in mind

I have a couple very similar to it.its just missing the stop that goes in the top that sets the bump length on your bullet.

That's how I got most of the unused junk in my drawers in the shop now. But, you can't resist curiosity and a challenge when it looks that nice./beagle

OK, guys; who won the bid? Be sure and let the rest of us know what it is.

I did not win the item.
I had thought I put a stupidly high bid on it.
Apparently not, I was outbid anyway :-(
