If anyone is interested Cabella's has the Pietta 1851 Navy 36 cal. steel frame on sale for $ 199.00, as of 02/13/2015, better get one while they're cheap.

I bought one for myself and it's a very well crafted revolver and accurate to boot !

I bought one recently, and took it out to the range for the third time last Tuesday. The best handgun shooting I have ever done and the most fun as a bonus.

I can't go to the range until next week and the wait is killing me.

Patience.......

I'm lucky enough to live out in the country and I can pop a cylinder full when I get the urge.

Liked the '51 so well I bought a 1861 too, it's weird that Pietta builds the '61 with a 8" barrel. Bought a parts set when I bought the '51 and figured another Navy would make a nice pair plus I'd be set since all the parts would interchange with a little fitting.

Shot the 61 for the first time yesterday and it's spot on with 17 grs FFFg and a .375" ball @ 15 yrds it'll keep all 6 in a 4" cluster, it has a little hitch when letting the hammer down on the safety "pin" or an empty chamber but it should smooth out with more shooting.

Was your 51 smooth out of the box, how was the accuracy ?

The accuracy was right on. The action was smooth out of the box.

It is my first revolver and it definitely was the right handgun for me. Loads of fun.
