When preheating a mold on a double burner hot plate...

Make SURE you turn the correct burner on... and that your handles are not the item thats getting pre-heated! Mine now have an interesting color and texture. Was trying to figure out where that burning smell was coming from....

I'd like to add that you need to make sure that only the mould is on the hot plate burner, and not the handles.

Made that mistake, but only once. Lyman mold handles do not smell good when they burn.

Main reason I'm glad mine has an operational light for each burner. Never fails that I accidentally turn both on when setting it up.

I've been cooking supper for my Mom and I for about two years now, and I still occasionally turn on the wrong burner on her electric stove. Nothing like staring at a pan, wondering why the dang thing isn't getting hot only to feel the heat from the wrong element.

For the record, I learned to cook on a gas stove, and still prefer them. At least you can see which postion is going to be hot.
