Never fired the REAL in my .54 New Englander, but I had good results with the 430gr Maxi Ball over 100gr of Pyrodex RS. Typically 3 or 4 inch groups at 100 yards. A couple of deer I took with them all went down like they were struck with Thor's Hammer. You want to be sure your dental fillings are glued in good and tight before you pull the trigger on this load, though. The mold has been discontinued but there are a couple up for bid on Ebay

if thats a 1/48 twist in your rifle barrel the bullet is of the right length for accracy at any range. i know i sound like a broken record but think about resizeing the real bullet and paperpatching it. no doubt it would shoot real good.

Picked up .54 New Englander recently. Looking forward to trying out the REAL and the old Lyman extra thick skirted minie.
