What specifically are you referring to, Nomad? That subject can cover a big area.

Well, I use the equipment I develop and sell to other folks. Does that count? I also make a lot of stuff I use that I don't sell, for example a dual PID controller, bullet molds, etc.

In what regards.? At a minimum most of us modify existing tools to our needs. If I had a lathe and end mill I would be set. But there is currently no space for them :(

Most of my smelting tools ( strainer shovel, ingot molds, big ladle pot) I made. My sprue wackers I make ( dead blow hammer style) I have made bullet moulds for others when I was working, I have modified tools to make them perform better for my uses. Once you see the need or have the idea of change needed think it thru first as to what needs to be changed the how then what needs to be done and in what steps.

Get a lathe, use a little thinking, and no end of tools come to mind.

I have a bench top vertical mill with 3 axis DRO and a bench top lathe also with DRO's. I have made boolit sizing dies, check makers, boolit molds, HPed existing molds, modified reloading dies, modified barrel chambers, crowned barrels, boolit feeders for my presses, low primer warning system etc. Makes me pretty self sufficient and has been very cost effective since I can make something in a few hours rather than wait for it to come in the mail. I have an Engineering education and machining management experience, am retired from aero space so the sky is the limit for me if I have the raw material.
