New to the 32 Special.......Just rebarreled a post 64 Winchester. I've acquired a box of Hunter Supply 32 170 grain Flat point plain base bullets..............Looking for somewhere to start...........Been reloading for 30 years but new to the 32...................I realize the plain base will need much lower velocities............I"d like to have a plinking load around 1400 fps maybe 1500 if leading is not a problem...........Maybe covering the rear of the bullet with Lee liquid alox will help with any leading issue? or maybe Johnsons paste wax?..................I have all sorts of powders. Is there a standard plain base bullet powder for this round?.......................Thanks for the help..............Bob

9gr unique will work just fine dont be afraid to go up 2-3 grains if you are comfortable
with what you see .
9 is a great start though and regular rifle primers will do the job

Try around 14 grains of either flavor of 4227. Might need to go up a little. Its what I used in
.32-40 and the .32 Specials just an "Improved" .32-40.

I have used 15-17 grs of IMR-4227 with a 170 gr. jacketed bullet.

Don't overlook Reloader 7 as well. I've had very good results with it under PB bullets in the .30/30./beagle

+ 3 on 9 grains of Unique. I used 8.5 of Unique in the 30/30 with plain based cast bullets.
