Gang
I just got a shipment of 3k Gator 458 rifle checks which are intended for an RCBS 45-405-FN and the Ranch Dog 460-425-FP boolits. The RD check shank is a snug fit in the standard Gator 45 caliber checks. As I understand it, the 458 rifle checks are a little thicker, affording a bit better bite on the shank.
Question is, will I need to anneal these checks before seating on the RD boolit? Or is the check mouth the same as the standard with just a bit thicker metal in the check itself?
Just trying to get some info beforehand so as to not mess up boolits or checks.
Thanks.

Marlin Junky,
Get Gator checks at Bullet Swaging Supply, Inc. 318-387-7257, or fax at 318-325-7034. The guy is a doctor of some sort, optomotrist, optician, something like that. When you call you'll be answered by a lady informing you that you have called a doctor's office. Just tell her you need some help with gas checks and need to speak to the "Gator"
.458 rifle checks are $28/1000. Order 5000 or more and shipping is free. Seem to be good quality in all I've gotten...30, 44, 45, and now 458.
