Found an old photo

Just found this picture taken in 1970 of a very nice Western Oregon Blacktail buck that I took that year with my 13 gauge muzzleloading shotgun. I loaded the right barrel with a patched round ball and the left with 9 OO Buck. I heard him coming and saw him when he saw me at 32 steps. He whirled and jumped and I swung and shot like I was shooting quail. The ball went through his shoulders. He wobbled off about 40 yards and was dead when I got to him. Scored 121 points Boone & Crockett. Brought back some wonderful memories.129167

That is a really nice blacktail! From what I can see of the old shotgun it appears to have a rifle sight on the end of the short barrels. Looks like my kind of deer rifle. Thanks for sharing.

I really like old pics. I used to live in Blacktail country when I was a kid. I never even saw one that nice. Thanks for the memory tickler.

Not as old but me and my woodchuck hunting buddy Sam. He has a pre 64 Winchester 243 with a 15 x scope. Me my 40x in 6BR. My 1984 Subaru in the background.
