We are diminished. Only three remain now, the bravest of the brave.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

I consider myself, while far from being a "tough" guy, a very solidly placed individual that has always been able to maintain composure in the face of trying or sad times but every time I see reference to or read about the Doolitle raid I find myself having to hold back the tears, tears of pride and awe at what these men did and tears of sadness for those who participated in the raid but didn't return. It is a shame and disgrace that most younger people have never even heard of these men and have not a clue as to what they did, nor does this younger generation care in the least to what we owe to not only the Doolittle crew but to every veteran who participated in that great conflict! My father was one of the many who stormed ashore at Normandy and was part of General Patton's force that helped lift the siege of Bastogne later, dad did not talk much of his participation in the war but he made sure we grew up knowing what it was about and why we as a country fought for the freedoms that so many worthless drones in this country take for granted today. I fear for the future of this country because even with all the fine dedicated and very brave young men and women protecting us today too much of the public that should be supporting them seems to have forgotten the past and very well may doom us to repeat it!
