Whats the normal rate of twist in a 32 Special barrel ?

Did Marlin and Winchester use the same twist ?

Didn't know that. Maybe that's why it's supposed to be BP friendly?

Mine wont fully stabilize a 190 gr bullet. Just made up some RCBS 170 GC FP today.

I think I may very well have a 336 action coming to me soon , and am thinking of barreling it in 32 Special .

However I think I would like a octagon barrel and I see they are selling unchambered 32-40 octagon barrels in Midway for Marlin actions . But the twist is 1-14" .

Was kinda thinking of keeping the original twist , but perhaps a slightly faster twist will be okay as well !!!!!

I'd think 1-14 would be pretty good. Some 1-16s won't stabile the longer and heavier .32s but I haven't encountered it in mine and the 1-16 twist .32-40 I have stabilizes them as well.

My shooting partner had a .32-40 that wouldn't stabilize heavier bullets and it had a 1-16 twist. I've never figured that out unless he was sizing small./beagle

Drive em faster. I'm shooting a 180 gr in a 1 in 18 twist on a single shot and they are stable.

18 twist SHOULD be the perfect twist for a 180. Using the twist requirement programs on the net require the diameter of the boolit, and that diameter should be inserted into the program as the diameter as measured at the BOTTOM of the lube grooves. This would increase the twist requirement over that given for a diameter as measured across the driving bands. ... felix

I'm not that worried about the heavier bullets . I already have three 32 Specials I can shoot them in [smilie=1:

I am more intrested in this barrel for the soon to come Ranch Dog 165 grainer and possibly some type of GC 150 grainer .
