What rifle

Last week end I purchased a Hawkens 54 cal rifle. It has the set trigger, but not the brass trigger guard or butt plate of the hawkens also no patch box. The serial # is only 5 numbers, I actually bought it for the tang sights. Could anyone tell me what model rifle this is.

There were dozens of rifle makers producing the hawken style rifle. Which one do you have?

I am sorry, it is a thompson center, and I should not of put Hawkins in. I would like to know what model it is.

Usually, the TC rifles have the model written on the barrel.

It is either a t/c hawken or a t/c renegade both sport a heavy octagon barrel. The hawken comes with all the brass trim, the renegade has none. Sounds to me what you have is a very early renegade.

Sounds like a T/C Renegade to me. If the bbl. is 26" long x 1" across the flats, it is most certainly a Renegade.

I've had both The TC Hawkins and the Renegade in .50 cal. The Hawkins barrel was so bad I went out and bought a Renegade, which as a shorter barrel. It was ok as a hunting rifle but I was doing target shooting so I ended up with a frankenstein. A buddy had a spare TC Hawkins barrel and wanted my Hawkins stick so I swapped him for the barrel and stuck it on the Renegade barrel and it gets the job done for target shooting.I kept the brass furniture because he likes the black.

Yours sounds like a Renegade.

Tangs are great. I use Williams Apertures on all of my rifles except my long range match rifles.

And with a 5 digit serial number, it does not have the q.l.a. Muzzle.
