Leather arm guard I made for my son, it looks small because he's only 12... Hand burnt lions head at his request. (Asked him what animal he'd like best.) Laced with bungee cord to grow with him until he outgrows the leather. Then I get to make him a new one.

That looks awesome! Good job dad! Archery is a great hobby/sport for kids and adults alike.

looks nice. rookies definately need one, but by the time he out grows it, he probably shouldnt need another.

If Dad had made something like that for me, it would have to go in my casket. Very nice!

how is hand-burning done? I don't see any overlaps or anything.

Drew out the outline with a pencil, then took a finer point on a woodburning tool, and went over that. Then I used a blunt round tip, maybe 1/8" wide, and filled in the areas using a kind of circular motion. It's kind of like shading with a pencil, the more you go over it, the more it blends. The secret to the shading is to use lighter pressure and keep the tip moving. Then the more times you go over it, the darker it gets. Hope that answers your question.

Real nice, I'd love to have something similar. I just got my first handmade Osage orange long bow.
