I am playing around with the 311413 cast "Squibb" boolit in my 300 BLK. 16" CMMG, 1-7, carbine gas AR rifle.

I loaded some with IMR 4227 in the neighborhood of 1750 fps before I did a good search here and was shooting patterns at 50 yds. I now know that this mold is probably suited for 1600 and below for decent accuracy.

I am going to try some IMR 4198 to get some slower speeds. A full non compressed charge is 14.0 grains with this boolit and by using advanced logic, intuitive reasoning, and interpolation, should have me in the 1450ish range.;)

My question is about the definition of "light loads" and the possibility of detonation. This should be safe if the powder is to the base of a certain boolit and I am well below the max safe loading? I understand that it may not function my AR action, but I am just looking to make this cast boolit accurate. My understanding is that light loads are based on airspace.

I'm thinking I'm OK, just wanted to see if anyone had a comment about my brain function.

I am also interested in how well this bullet will work in the 300 BLK. I have a Rem. 700 SPS bolt. I have 2 single cavity molds . One has been milled to be a plain base and one has the GC. Guess I will have to cast some up and find out how well they work in my 300BLK. Has anybody else tried the 311413 in 300BLK?

14 gr 4227 did 1700+ with a 150 gr PB, 16 of Rx7 did 1680 with 168 gr. That is a GC boolit? I'd check your lube & alloy if you get leading.

I have had good results with 311413 over 10 gr Unique in 7.5 Swiss, but have read (not tested myself)
that much beyond that will cause it to destabilize. I just use it for mild target loads.
