I found a couple of tins for .30 caliber pellets at the rifle range the other day and today I found an example somebody had dropped. Anybody have one of these? I imagine it must be a precharged rifle; a spring gun couldn't push such a monster fast enough. A .177 is shown for comparison.

I wondered who it was who shot the holes in the 100-yd deer gongs:mrgreen:!

Yep, someone having fun with a big bore Pre Charged Pneumatic. I always wanted a Quackenbush, but there is always some other rifle higher on the want list...

Daystate Wolverine,FX or the like most likely. The DQ's usually are for cast slugs.

They go all the way up to the .50 cal's nowday's. I don't think even a Bison would want to be standing 80 yards in front of one.

Precharged Pneumatics is a whole world within a world. They ain't toys anymore.

The problem with big bore pellet guns is that they take too much air. I was talking to Air Force pellet gun booth a the the last gun show I went to in LV. They were telling me that a 9mm pellet would only get about 25 rounds out of a tank that was about the size of a quart bottle. I would expect to get at least 250 rds out of my Air Arms in a .22. These precharged pneumatic guns aren't toys. I spent more money on mine than any other rifle I own. It is also the most accurate rifle I own too.

Benjamin Franklin .22 cal pump pellet rifle

Benjamin Franklin .22 cal pellet pistol.

Both are at least pushing 50 years old and both have adjustable rear sights. I hunted the fierce sparrow with the rifle when I was about 10 years old. My grandfather had the exact same rifle that was even older. The pistol I purchased at a gun show about 10 years ago. Both are very accurate.

If you load the pellet backwards you will loose a little accuracy but it makes a very nice hollow point capable of taking out any vicious, charging rabbit.

Airforce is now for being very inefficient. Hatsan has come out with a new 30cal. Its affordable and I really want one but I have spent too much on airguns already!

Those 50.15 gr. .30 cal. pellets were designed for the Daystate Wolverine .303, mine fires those at 970 fps. and has a 5 shot magazine, I get 13 shots to a fill or shots start falling below the main group. Great gun, fabulous workmanship, accurate, light adjustable trigger. To own one you really have to love airguns or you can't rationalize the price. I also use an 80 gr. cast bullet in mine at about 200fps less velocity, still working to get accuracy to match the pellets.

Humm load them over a pinch of Bullseye for galley loads?

Like the Beast in the Cave from Search for the Holy Grail?

Naw. That's just a cute little bunny unless he grows fangs and attacks, that is another story for another time. I was thinking more of those beasts that eat up the grass that my cows need to make me a steak from.

Those cute little bunnies are part of the food chain. It just that they are on the wrong end of the chain.

jeepvet you have a awesome avatar!

Doggonekid I was just admiring your avatar too. You must be a really smart guy.

Mine actually has "If God didn't want us to have guns... he would'nta have given us trigger fingers" written on it but the words will not come across on the avatar.
