Anyone use in the Lyman 457191

I was wondering if anybody had any put on the Lyman 457191 in the 45-70 or 45 Colt .

Nope, I prefer the 457193 as far as the Lymans go. I like the RD 460-350 for the 45-70 and the RD 454-290 for the 45 Colt when building hunting loads for either.

I use that bullet in an early Shilo Sharps .45 1863 percussion rifle.

I've used the 457191, the 457122HP and the RCBS 45-325-FNU sized down in the .45 Colt and .45 Casull with good results. Understand, not many...maybe 100 of each as I don't need a bullet that heavy. I used Lil Gun and they were all I wanted power wise./beagle

The only "success" I've had with Ideal 457191 has been using it to fire-lap a .45-70 High Wall with a somewhat speckly bore. All my .45 rifles are .45-70 and larger, so it might work better in a .45-60 or .45-75 with a slower twist than 1 in 22. In my rifles they are for short range plinking only.

Elmer Keith wrote that he sized down boolits of this size for use in .45 Colt revolvers. I haven't tried sizing down the 457191 because my Lyman 454617 GP 300-gr mould is already the right size (.454). They shoot well out of my .45 Colt Uberti clone.
