I aquired a 45 hawken from a friend. He broke the ramrod tip off in it about 10 years ago. I would like to have it bored and rifled for 50 caliber roundballs. Does anyone have a name and contact for a gunsmith that would do this. The outside of the rifle is great, the bore is pretty bad. I would appreciate any info on this. Thanks

Would probably be cheaper to order a .50 barrel for it.

Try this. I live in Pa. about 30min. from his shop so I just drive there and talk to him in person. The last barrel he did for me was take a 54 cal. out to 58cal. I think he charged me something like $60. Real nice fellow just don't try and rush things.

Robert Hoyt at the Freischutz Shop, 700 Fairfield Station Rd., Fairfield, Pa. 17320. His phone # 717-642-6696 He doesn't have a website or email - you have to use the phone. Be prepared to wait for him to shut down a machine and walk to the phone - let it ring. . .

curdog-Bob Hoyt is the man! He has one several barrel for me and friends and his work is spectacular. Decide on what boolit you are going to shoot and then call him. He cuts the rifling for round ball, if you want, and it is a pleasure to use when he is finished.
