well i got my Marvel .22 conversion.... finally. im going to try some different ammo. i heard sometimes they are picky about what ammo runs in them. i picked up a few different brands. should i just load and burn them thru real fast to see how they feed and function? or should i shoot a few 5 shot groups and see what shoots the tightest group?

will be going today before work, local range is only 11 yards.

ill post some pics tonight of the targets and gun.

and if anyone is conserding a marvel conversion. be prepared to wait a long time. their customer service is really friggin slow. they dont check emails and you can call all week and may get them to answer once. they promissed id have it by Xmas. i ordered it early december. well i just got it on saturday. they redid the mags. instead of single stack metal they are double stack injection molded plastic. i ordered 2 mags and a buddy ordered 6 mags. $35 a piece, and none worked. tried in 7 different 1911's. when they were molded they either not square or when they cooled they cooled not square. it was a easy fix sanded the backstrap with 400 grit then 1200 grit for a bit and they work perfect. makes ya mad though you spent a bunch on a unit thats supposed to be the best. and it takes forever to get. along with the mags wont fall which involves sanding......

ill keep ya posted on the range report. check later. -chris

I got one of the Kimber .22 conveersion kits for 1911s for Christmas. I have only used it a couple times so far but I have not had one malfunction of any kind. It comes with one plastic mag and I bought 2 more extra mags from Midway for $20.00 each and have not had any issues with them as of yet. I considered the Marvel conversion kit, but while researching .22 conversion kits the Kimber seemed to be more recommended so that is what I went with. Sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble with the Marvel unit.

well went to the range today 11 yards was the test. fired off hand and at a fairly quick rate. not bullseye shooting just plinking. the reason was to function test and help brake in the conversion.

learned some ammo sucks and some works well. noticed different ammount of recoil to. never woulda thought in a .22 but muzzel flip was noticable.

this taget was winchester power points. guy at range let me bum a few. they worked but seemed "hot"

this one is CCI standard velocity shot well fed perfect but again 10 shots

this one is remington thunderbolts 1 faliure to shoot, one good hit but bullet didnt fire. most recoil and throws a random shot high.

this was federal ammo. its junk ran whatever you can count on the target. in 15 rounds had 4 faliure to feeds and really smokey, dented the crap out of the cases. just gave up on it.

this is remington target full 50 rounds shot ok but 3 failure to feeds.

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/hawgz/scan0004.jpg

this was i think the best ammo 50 rounds winchester T22 1 failure to feed.

just a range report on how it did. ill be testing more CCI some Ely and RWS. so far i think of what i read it needs a few more rounds down the tube and ill stick with CCI or T22 and run more down and see how it does. -chris

more testing this morning. these 10 round mags sometimes wont latch in. if you load 9 rounds in a mag you have no problems. ill be loading 8 rounds to simulate my 1911 IPSC shooting. so bottom line the mags work but marvel needs to work on thier 10th round. -chris
