I teach hunters' ed and really enjoy doing the firearms and ammunition portion. I did not have a lever action like the Kansas Hunters' ed manual, so two years ago, I got a 1962 vintage Marlin 336. This year, I picked up a used Browning Citori circa. Now I can show the kids guns that match up with the drawings in the manual. I am not really much of a traditionalist, but these two have grown on me. The 336 looks like someone used it for a tent post. The Browning was better cared for, but it definitely has seen a lot of use. The bluing on the action is thin and metal is shining through. There are a few dings in the stock, but they only add a little character. It locks up tight and swings like a dream. Any way, lets start off the year with a little gun porn.

Well the Marlin looks good from where I am sitting, but I am an unabashed Marlin fan!
Enjoy your new teaching tools!

Thanks you sir, I also enjoy teaching hunters safety and if we don't pass this on to the kids our fine tradition will be lost! Teach them the right way with consequences for doing wrong and they will do right most of the time!!!

The G&F here recently recalled all the "real guns" that they supplied to the certified instructors and are replacing them with "blue guns"............ A few of the instructors are POed because the G&F has made a trade deal with a single dealer to exchange all these never fired guns for the bargain basement price of $200 each. The dealer is easily going to make double or triple what he is paying for most of them.
