Has anybody tried small pistol primers in the 30 carbine ? I have tones of them, but few small rifle primers. I was going to buy a case of the small rifle today, but at my local sport store the price in now 30.00 per 1000 !

When I was a kid, 35 years ago, I could buy 1000 ( a full case ) for 5 bucks.

I used rifle last time I loaded them and had a few problems. I friend I shoot with that has been loading for 40 years said I should use pistol primers because it is basicly a pistol cart anyway. That's what I will use next time.:Fire:

Depends on the load you are using.

If a Cast Boolit with a charge of Unique or Blue Dot (or similar)
then I'd use Small Pistol primers myself...

If OTOH you are using a "warmer" load with a Speer "Plinker",
a 115gr Softpoint or "ball" and a full power charge of 2400 or H110
then I'd say stick with the rifle primers.

I substitute Small Rifle primers in some 357mag loads, particularly
heavy bullet hunting loads, like max charges of H110 behind a
180gr Nosler Partition moving at 1325fps from the 10" barrel
of my Dan Wesson.
