I am looking for a winchester m94 classic 30/30,at least this is what I remember what my dad had. It had the 26" octagon barrel and the gold loading clip{where you load the bullets} and some fancy scroll work done on the reciever.
I tried to track down his gun after he sold it but to no avail, would like to find out more about this gun if possible so I can buy one because his was the first lever gun I ever shot and I would like to find one like it. I have been looking but to no avail. Is this gun rare? Any help would be appreciated.

Do a search for Winchester Centennial. Sounds similar to one I have. I think mine was made in 1964.

I've seen the modern musket I believe from 1968 which matches what you describe, somewhat rare. I have a 68' 94 buffalo Bill carbine with 18" octagon barrel in unfired condition, it was about $600 when I picked it up. I will shoot it, eventually.

The Model 94 Classic was a post-64 commemorative, that was offered with either a 20" or 26" octagon barrel from 1967-70.

47,000 were manufactured.

It had the Black Chrome finished sintered metal receiver, a gold-colored loading gate, rolled-on scroll "engraving", and the stamped lifter (which many folks upgrade to the post-1970 solid/cast lifter).

Here's a 20" bbl'd example for sale:

Here's a 26" bbl'd example for sale:

More can be found via googling "Winchester Model 94 Classic for sale".

This is the one I have. Good shooter and pretty to look at but the values haven't risen much so they are pretty affordable.

Wow funny seeing this I just bought the one in the first picture that pietro posted yesterday and feel I got a very good deal on it. Sure it will be a great shooter for me and it was never shot by the owner.

Wish I would have kept all my brass I had saved. Only got rid of it because I could never find a deal now I found it so I will have to buy some to shoot and have fun with. I was wondering how it woud do for a hog gun? For sure soon on the range report. Try and post pictures of it soon. Man nice Christmas wife got me two out of three rifles this month. The Marlin 30-30, A Zastava Mpap77 I think thats the wordage on it in 308 with an adjustable gas system, and I got another PTR. First one I got last month.

Check out Cherry's Fine Guns via google. They usually have a lot of the commorative rifles and carbines on hand for sale. I got my '66 Canadian Cenntenial from them with the origional box for $600. This is the rifle version with the 26" long barrel. Some years back I bought a carbine version for less money. Stuck a 17a up front and a williams rear sight on the receiver. That one had a 20" octagon carbine barrel. Shoots pretty good with my 68 year old eyes. Frank

I have found a couple of the m94 classics but they are alittle out of my price range at the moment. One has had some work done to it that I don't like the other one has gold inlay in the reciever scroll work and looks like someone put it in there to make it look fancier. In which they have failed, looks really bad. So I will keep on looking.

If you can afford that one, I would advise you to buy it - it was quite common for owners to highlight the rolled engraving scrolls by filling the engraving, etc with Gold model car paint, which will remove speedily with a toothpick tip covered by a thin rag wetted in laq thinner.

I've got one and shoots just a well as any other Winny 94. The gold load gate is worn and could use a replate, but still a fine shooter as is.

The last one I saw at a local gun show was as new. $600.00 O.T.D.
I found a used one so let the new one age a while longer. It's getting tougher to resist.
Should I check to see if the dealer still has it??
