I guess this falls under the category of "I've seen a lot of neat stuff but nothing as neat as this."

Amazing Rocket Launch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pD_yQZ4iNjY)

I had to watch this several times. Fascinating.

That was very nicely done.
I was just thinking I would have put a parachute on that wheel to avoid anyone being hit when it came down and then the parachute opened. They had this thing well thought out and well put together.

I've fired off the small versions of these at 4th of July but had not expected to see one built on this scale.

If you like this, go watch some of the LDRS videos.

There was a longer version posted somewhere that I watched some time ago. Not all of them worked properly. I can also say that seemed to be large amounts of alcohol involved in these launches.

3rd world space program? If I were an astronaut in that thing, I'd be pretty dizzy by the time we got anywhere!

No doubt real and looks like a celebratory thing done for special occasions. Two things amazing to me about it. 1) Obviously solid rocket motors of some fashion that have extremely long burn time while having adequate thrust to keep it going. 2) Basic stability and vertical ascent. Like a giant flying pinwheel but with an easier said than done design.

I couldn't understand the language but right before they lit it off
It sounded like he said
"" Hey ! Hold my beer and watch this.""

Festival is right. There is a much longer utube out there about 15 min or so. Bunch of launches and some really interesting fails..fails were entertaining

Pretty spectacular failures - looks like a great idea to be pretty far away from those
beasties when th fuses are lit. Does look a lot like fun, and I think gray wolf understands
a bit of Thai language. . . . . :bigsmyl2:

Well, you know Sam did spend a bit of time over in SE Asia in his youthful years and I'm sure there was a lot of "Here, hold my beer and watch THIS" going on between the locals and us. :)
