I have a friend who received a Marlin 336 from his fathers estate and it's missing the front dovetailed sight. Anyone have one they can part with and send me? His serial number to the gun starts with a 71 (in case there is more than one design). I think it's also missing the rear elevator, I'll have to look again. Thanks guys.

Williams Gun Sight, Lyman and Marble's all make dovetail sights that will fit. You need a 3/8 inch dovetail. One in the .375 to .400 height should work. Odds are the original front was too short and the elevator was removed to fix the problem. You can also obtain an elevator for the rear.

Good opportunity to put a set of Marble sights on it, IMHO.

Rear elevators can be bought for a few bucks from Brownells and Midway. Had to order one a few months back. If you want the factory front sight check Numrich. I'd call to make sure it's a Marlin part and not a reproduction before ordering.

He really doesn't have the money for new sights and I was hoping someone had an old one sitting on a shelf they didn't mind getting rid of I could put on for him.

Most Marlin Iron sights are sourced from Marbles anyway.
