Got my first day today. Got home early from work so I grabbed my rossi 44 mag. I walked to where I know deer like to eat before bed. As I creep up on the spot I have seen deer before I notice a deer about 75 yards away. The deer is looking straight at me. My heart starts pounding and I bring the sights on the deer take a deep breath to calm down. Take the shoot, deer drops instantly. My 250 grain keith style hollow point did the trick. Hit the deer in on the through and did not move. N
Now I am hooked. Happy my first deer was with a cast boolit.

Very good and it is funny how you can go to pieces with a pounding heart and shakes. It goes away and now when I shoot a deer I say Darn, more work!
You did very good and have some good meat. I do miss the excitement of seeing deer, it used to be crazy until I got tension on a bowstring. Dang, in the old days I shook like a leaf.

Congrats. Hopefully all that come after it are that exciting. If I ever lose that felling I know I'll quit hunting them .

Why would he? ;-)

Good Job! I killed lots of critters before I saw the light, OP got it right the first time. Nicely done!

The bullet traveled from neck all the way down the spine and exited just behind the rear legs. Had very minimal damage to the meat. No wonder the Deer dropped instantly.
