I had a guy come in today that wanted to sell me a defibrillator. This is an interesting profession.

Unlike a casket, the defibrillator can be used over and over again. People really dig deep this time of year to come up with cash. People are always trying to sell used medical stuff here. After all, they don't call FL "Gods Waiting Room" for nothing

How do you test it to see if it works?

Are you talking about an AED? I thought a defibrillator was kinda like a pacemaker. Had an older neighbor once that had both implanted. One to keep his heart rhythm regular the other to keep his heart beating when needed.

I bet you do see some strange things come through your business.

Yes, an AED. It's portable and reusable.

You can rent a good casket for the viewing and funeral, then have the body moved to a cheep one for burial or cremation.

That is true. Some shops do have heart stopping prices.

Back during Nam there was a pretty good business selling used caskets.I knew this one guy that was in the business and said that he sold quiet a few. Some would shy away when they found out that some one else had slept in them before.

When I was a kid, I lived about 2 blocks from a funeral home. The folks that owned it had a good looking grandaughter that spent her summers with them. I know for a fact the final users of their caskets, were not the first.

Best medial equipment/Pawn shop story hearabouts: Medicare leases CPAP machines for 13 months ( I think) .Then the recipient owns the machine,so pawn it in October for down payment on hunting rifle, trade rifle back in for Christmas $, then buy a CPAP off Craigslist.. Start over next October...Med,supply houses starting to catch on,though..Will buy anything cheap on Craigslist, pronto, landfill is the next stop for those. Onceabull

You devil you!

That said, I can relate. I went to HS with the son and daughter of the town's funeral home owner. The son was a good buddy of mine and the daughter was a looker.

The son went to Nam and would send me mail. For whatever reason he did not send mail to his family. I would share the benign mail with his sister. We became "close" friends. Most sadly my buddy did not make it. I still think of him and the good times we had.

My four year old grandson was playing in my wife,s junk bin. He said look grandma, grabbed an old phone holder, placed it on his chest and did body jerks. She still laughs about it.

AED's are installed in almost every office building around here. Usually close to the fire extinguishers. It would be very easy for someone to walk off w/ one. So what's the going rate for one ;)

No joke about used caskets. Local junk yard had a pile of them. Bronze colored but do not know what they were actually made out of. the guy at the yard told me one guy bought one to make a coffee table out of and another went to a custom car guy. Frank

I'd bet that AED was lifted from somewhere. I wonder if the serial was in the system. About a year ago I heard about my agency busting a guy that stole an AED a city park and tried to sell it.

I wonder if AEDs don't have to be certified after a certain amount of time. Seems like we usually just by replacements. Don't know where the old ones go.....

My ICD went off 7 times in 15 minutes last January. It was, indeed, shocking. Hope I stay healthy enough where that doesn't happen again.

we have them in our offices at work, and are starting to put them on the trucks that have more than one man assigned to them. The battery seems to be the weak part. And yes, they would be pretty easy to steal. I'm not sure what they cost.
