Ohaus 30-150-S

I have an older Ohaus marked as above. Anyone have expierence with this bullet? If so do you lube all of thr grooves?

I'm pretty sure that the Ohaus mould that you have morphed into the RCBS 38-150-SWC or something like that. My mould from RCBS only has one large lube groove and one crimping groove and it sounds like yours might have multiple lube grooves. I've had that mould since 1976 or so and have nothing but good to say about it. It has a rather large lube groove, but I fill it up anyway and as long as my alloy is adequate, I get no leading and very good accuracy at velocities from 800 fps up to 1,300 fps from my Smith and Wessons.

Does your Ohaus mould look like this?

Mine is a 30 cal with many lube grooves.

Doohh! I misread your post, but I also have the RCBS 30 calibre 150 grain mould that is probably what your mould morphed into when RCBS bought out Ohaus. I've also had this mould since about 1976 and while I haven't used it a whole lot, it throws a great boolit and the mould has been trouble free.

I snagged this photo off of the Internet. Does it match your Ohaus mould?

If it is now RCBS 30-150-SP, I have it. Mine has 3 lube grooves and a crimp groove.
I only lube the bottom two and it shoots awesome in my 30-30's. I actually crimp in the top lube groove.
I dont think I've tried it in 30-06.

For lube I use NRA lube that I made and add about 10% parafin wax. I seen lube splatter the 100yd target with only the bottom grooves lubed so I think theres plenty.

I should have got the mould out earlier. Mine is actually the RCBS 30-150 SP. It produces a very good boolit that has been useful in my 1903 Springfields and a Remington 600 carbine in 308 calibre. I also have the 180 grain version of it (30-180 SP) and that sees molten metal a little more often.

You are right. That top lube groove holds a lot of lube, probably more than one needs for most purposes. I'll have to try lubing just the bottom two lube grooves the next time I run a batch of 'em. I too use the NRA formula 50/50 lube for almost all of my cast boolit needs.

Note the price on the mould's box. $14.11 in the mid 70s.
