I'm looking at buying a Kimber "Montana" any reviews? It will be chambered in 257 Roberts. I may run some 257-85-cowboy RCBS boolits through it, but mostly it will be my Coyote, Antelope, Deer rifle fed jacketed ammo.
TIA

Ive never owned one am far from an expert. I had a buddy who had a 308 and a 257 and both of them were finiky to find accurate loads for.

Funny you should ask. I'm also in the market for one in .308

I used a Winchester M70 in 257 Roberts in Africa. I just fell in love with the round. I did not like the Winchester's 20" barrel. I won't own another Ruger rifle, so of the manufacturers left who chamber for 257 Roberts, Kimber is the only one in my price range (barely)

The first deer rifle I ever used was a remington 721 (or 722?) in .257 roberts. It went bang, deer went flop. If I remember correctly the bullets were 110 grains or 115, not the usual 100 or 120. It was my Uncle's rifle and his handloads were stout.
If Kimber made the montana in 7 x 57 I'd probably go that route instead of the .308. Heck, if they still made it in .338 federal that would be my 2nd choice. Alas, the .308 is ubiquitous and I have lots and lots of 30 cal moulds & brass. I was also thinking about the adirondack instead of the montana. I'm torn.

i wouldnt buy a kimber rifle, they run the gamut from very accurate to firing patterns instead of groups. lots of money for something that may or may not shoot well. the budget choice is rebarreling a savage, and on the other spectrum save up for a cooper.

What lefty said! Kimber is all over the place on accurate.
