Looks like Bubba is the tactical member of their clan.

I found something his cousin Cleatus came up with.

If his scope mounting wasn't impressive enough, you just have to behold his kustom porting

It seems that Rube has a brother, Bubba, that does a bit of smithin'.

I guess he didn't find an off-the-shelf holster for that contraption.

He should have used the chop saw instead of the die grinder. The chop saw at least has a vice to hold it steady :veryconfu.

If anyone has the contact infomation for the porting job I'd be interested in having one of my colt revolvers done. Having various sizes in the posts must be cutting wheel edge technology.

$300.00???
I wouldn't pay more than $75.00

Pretty sure I could have it rebarreled for a couple hundred or less. Or just have one of the only 3'' barreled 45 70 pistols around.

If the owner would do that to the barrel and cobble a sight on there like that, do you really want to roll the dice on what other mistreatment it has suffered? Looks like a wheel chock to me.

I like the buffing job he did to it. Looks like something my 6yr old would do.

Bt those ports make a healthy load "exhilarating". It would be a great way to clear the line at the range.

That didn't once belong to a 'roided-up dwarf in Kentucky, did it?

Gear, that was one of the funniest things I have read in a while. Thanks

Okay .... Theory talk now. That second cut is very deep would it conceivably weeken the barrel enough to break of with enough rounds down the tube?

Does it matter? How many would you be able to tolerate?

A lot if your dumb enough to cut the gun up like that. :)

That "porting" job makes me feel far, far less stupid when I compare that thought process to my first marriage....

Saw a guy driving a Suburban with the roof removed via Sawzall once. Hauling a load of gravel. Wearing goggles.
Probably the same guy who 'ported' this barrel.

Well, it *could* have been worse... He *could* have tried to port it with an acetylene torch... :)

I have to think a hacksaw would have done a better porting job than what he ended up doing though. Probably not as quick though.

So, yeah, it *is* possible to hack slots in the top of a barrel. Calling that "ported" is a bit of a stretch of the term though.

If that barrel was ported, then this one is also:

That is just.... nasty! Looks worse than the 16 gauge single shot a friend hacked the barrel off about 2" in front of the chamber, with a torch...

I have a hard time thinking anybody that would put out the bucks for a bfr would do something like that. That said, I would pony up 300 bucks for it faster than he could back out.

bikerbeans

I am thinking that the wife of the owner of that BFR caught him with his girlfriend and that she "customized" his pistol for him.

Bubba gunsmiths can usually only afford junk military surplus guns, so their work isn't so glaring. Guess Cleatus done hit the lottery and after setting off a cylinder full of full patch fodder figured he'd show that gun who was boss dad nabbit!

I gotta wonder what the price tag was on this creation..After the "porting job", not before mind you...

Now that right there is funny! And yes, it does look like one of his "projects". Is it the one in his right hand???

Back in the '90's, Mil Inc had one in production. It was a workaround because they couldn't sell their .45/.410 in CA or MD. The two models were called the Thunder Five.

You know guys that firing that piece with that "custom" porting job would be "VERY COLORFUL" in the extreme if fired after dark. Of course you`d have to wait for day light to look for the forward part of the barrel that blew off.Robert

12-12-2014, 10:43 PM
He did it so he could shoot birds as they flew over. Man I bet half the lead in a boolit would leave thru the ports, that is if someone was willing to shoot it,and that is NOT me!

He probably had to sell it because with that much recoil reduction the second shot went into his foot.

i was thinking it would shave off the side of the boolit when fired wow bubba job indeed!

Well, let's just say that it would create unique ballistics for a forensics ballistic examiner. :)

The cretin is Jay Gibson. He used to be a member here but was apparently banned. Everything about him is short, his stature, his temper, his intellect, etc.. He's been banned from several forums because he can't seem to get along with others and has problems coping with disagreements. He was a power lifter in his youth and used steroids that apparently fried his brain. You wouldn't want him chasing after your sister. He currently has his own website where morons are free to worship idiots. It's a fun place for the mentally (and vertically!) challenged. One of their favorite pastimes is to gripe and whine about other forums. Especially this one, lots of whining about cast boolits.
