I'm casting 38 special boolits in a Lee 6 cav. 358-158-RF mold. I want to size and lube them in a lyman 450 .
which Die and top punch should I buy for this? I,m loading for my S&W 642.
Thanks, Flashkayak

I use 627 with that bullet.

If I were going to buy one, I would get one of the flat faced ones.
Somebody here makes them.

Are you asking which diameter sizing die should you buy ?

Have you slugged your barrel? Measured your throats?

Generic answer: .358 size with the top punch for their RNFP boolit...or buy a flat top punch from one of the vendors on here.

.358" diameter is a good place to start.
The correct answer is to slug your barrel and size your bullets accordingly but I think you can size to .358" and call it a day. My S&W barrels are very consistent and .358" works in all of them.

Yes, the most popular sizing die in America for 38/357 revolvers is .358".

Will a .358 " bullet be the absolute very best for your particular revolver?
Well, we don't know that yet, but it is a very good place to start.
