So far I've been accumulating stuff to start casting, here's the list so far:

Lymans cast bullet book
Lee Pro 4-20 melter
Turkey fryer/dutch oven combo
#1 & #4 Rowell ladles
4 things of Unamet for fluxing
10# stearic acid for fluxing
4 Lyman ingot molds
A cast iron cupcake mold
A cast iron breadstick mold
approx 400# wheel weights
150# linotype lead
60# sheet metal lead
RCBS 44-250-SWC mold
RCBS 148grain 38/357 wadcutter mold
RCBS 150grain 38/357 SWC mold
Saeco 4 cav 230gr RN 45acp mold
H&G #68 mold (2 cav)
Ranch Dog TL460-350-RF

And I finally ordered a good used Star Luber with the 44mag and 357 dies.

So I'm thinking I still need some:

Bullet Lube
Bull Plate Lube
A good thermometer
More stuff to try as flux
A 45acp sizing die for my Star
And oh, a Marlin 1895 to go with my Ranch Dog mold.

I don't blame you for wanting a Marlin 1895, but take a look at the H&R/NEF Handi Rifle. It's available in two different configurations in .45-70. I love mine, although so far it's only had black powder loads run through it.

Those may be on the list of possible fluxes. [smilie=1:

Right now I got my heart set on another Marlin. I picked up a 336XLR, a couple of months ago and now it really wants an 1895XLR to keep it company.

I will take a look at the guns you mentioned though.

I would see Lar's stuff and bullshop at the bottom of the page for two of your needs. For a thermometer you could choose an RCBS or the one that the Antimony Man sells, but I would stay away from the Lyman unit as I have read things here that are not good about them. There are many things to use as flux so that really only leaves the Star 45 acp sizer die, and Magma Engineering can fix you up with that. Oh you might need a heater even with some of the soft lubes in that Star as they can be kinda cold blooded. :drinks:

243,
Welcome to the fun. Just wait, as you get more experience you'll find that there's LOTS of stuff you JUST GOTS to have [smilie=1:...More molds, another melter so you don't have to empty it to change alloy, another sizer (same reasoning), another gun for that stray mold that followed you home......[smilie=w:
Wait a MINNIT: I don't see anything on that list for casting for a .243?? No gas checks, sizing dies, molds, nothing........

Welcome to the board. Sounds to me like you are ready to go. Heck, I don't have near all the stuff you got. I can recommend the RCBS thermometer though, I got one a week or so ago and it does a good job. You better start rounding up some more WW, you will go through 400lbs in no time and they are getting really hard to come by.
